Polk Street / Russian Hill Recommendations

7 months ago by stephanie

San Francisco’s Polk Street, as well as the Russian Hill area, are famous for their plentiful selection of bars and dining establishments alike. From delicious sushi restaurants to the 24-hour donut shop of our dreams, keep reading for our top recommendations from Polk Street and Russian Hill.

Mezcalito

The name alone wins this cute Russian Hill Mexican place major points. Mezcalito’s ambiance is bright and welcoming, with an ultra-Instagrammable interior — hey, we all love a good aesthetic. It’s not the best Mexican place in the city by any means (hello, have you been to the Mission?), but the drinks are reasonably priced and artfully curated.

Harper & Rye

Good looking crowd? Check. Cool atmosphere? Check. Bougie cocktail list? Check, check, and check. Harper & Rye is a great little corner neighborhood bar if you’re in the area. Oh, and you can grab a postcard and send it to your friends back home — they’ll even mail it for you!

Jackalope

If you’re a fan of sports bars, Jackalope is one of the good ones. With delicious drinks and a warm and inviting ambiance, you can’t go wrong with this Lower Nob Hill spot. It’s also got a small “balcony” overlooking the bar, so if the lower level is too packed, you can try your luck at nabbing a table upstairs.

Elephant Sushi

Big fans of Elephant Sushi over here! This intimate spot has sushi bar-seating only, so it’s best for smaller groups; and although it’s tiny and does not accept reservations, the service is efficient enough to keep things moving with relative ease. Elephant Sushi has a casual atmosphere, tasty specialty rolls and amazing prices, at least when it comes to San Francisco standards. May we recommend the $2 sake bombs? You can thank us later.

Blue Barn Gourmet

Looking for a lighter option for dinner before drinks and dancing? Blue Barn is your best bet. Salads and sandwich portions are large, and we’d say mostly worth the exorbitant prices — although if you’re not willing to fork over $15 for a salad, this may not be the place for you. The burrata grilled cheese is another staple. In fact, our mouths are watering at the thought!

Bob’s Donut and Pastry Shop

We should first mention that Bob’s Donut and Pastry Shop is open 24 hours. Yes, it’s a late-night donut shop, and we’re not mad about it. Some would even say these donuts are life-changing. Spoiler alert: They’re right.
