Best Spots For A Bar Crawl Through Nob Hill

6 months ago by stephanie

Known for historic landmarks like the ornate Grace Cathedral, as well as internationally renowned luxury hotels like the Fairmont, Nob Hill is one of San Francisco’s most famous neighborhoods. Keep reading for our top picks for a bar crawl through the Nob Hill and Lower Nob Hill area.

Jones Cocktail and Bar

Okay, so Jones is technically in the Tenderloin, but this rooftop bar and restaurant is worth the trek; it’s another with dope outdoor seating. One of the OG rooftop bars in San Francisco, Jones offers seasonal slushie drinks and satisfying New American fare. The prices are a bit steep and the bar is cash-only, so come prepared. It’s a large space with plenty of seating both indoors and outdoors, making it a solid option for large parties and gatherings.

Bourbon & Branch

This cocktail bar and speakeasy is a cool and intimate space you’ll definitely want to come back to. Yes, it’s technically in the Tenderloin, but Bourbon & Branch offers a lengthy cocktail list with a variety of good, stiff drinks. If you ask us, though, it’s the ambiance that’s the main draw. The entrance is unmarked, so if you don’t know, now you know — to ensure you’re able to find a table on a busy night, make a reservation, then give the password indicated in your email reservation at the door. You’ll feel like an elite member of some kind of secret San Francisco society. Just sayin’.

Rye

This Lower Nob Hill bar and lounge has a solid atmosphere, freshly crafted cocktails, and cool interior with a solid music selection. At $12-15 per drink, prices are a little steep, but hey — not by San Francisco standards. Overall, Rye is a great bar to grab drinks and get your night started before heading to the next spot on your list.

Redwood Room at the Clift Hotel

The swanky Redwood Room at the Clift Hotel is the ultimate place for people watching. The crowd here is eclectic and upscale, the bar is beautifully back-lit, and cocktails are overpriced; be warned. That said, the Redwood Room is a San Francisco staple, and definitely worth the visit if you haven’t been before!

Top of the Mark Lounge

Located at the InterContinental Mark Hopkins Hotel in Nob Hill (yes, we know it’s a mouthful!), the Top of the Mark Lounge offers not only one of the most incredible sweeping views of San Francisco, but it’s 360-degrees, at that.  As you can imagine, cocktails at this iconic, upscale bar cost a pretty penny, but you won’t want to miss grabbing one here before heading off to your next destination.

Playland Bar

Playland is a great spot for a night out with your girlfriends. Avoid creepers at all costs, but if you like top ’40s and dancing, you’ll like this place. They’ve also got a great happy hour and fun, youthful crowd.
